A new article suggests that the Green Bay Packers could cut outside linebacker Nick Perry from the lineup.

According to speculation by Bleacher Report, one of the main reasons that they're looking to cut Perry from the roster is the injuries — and the subsequent sidelining — that he's been suffering.

In 2017, Perry needed surgery on his hand, but ankle and shoulder injuries derailed his season. In total, over the last two seasons, he's missed a total of 11 games.

And, as an outside linebacker, he only earned 1.5 sacks this past season.

His ineffective playing, combined with his injuries, make him a prime candidate for the chopping block — and if he does end up getting cut from the team, it will save Green Bay a lot of money.

As it stands right now, Nick Perry is owed $11.1 million in dead cash over the next three years. If he's declared a cut as of June 1, the Packers will save more than $10 million.

In the event that happens, though, “Green Bay waives the right to use the extra money during the first waves of free agency. The cash would allow the team to target mid-to-late offseason cuts capable of contributing to the roster or absorb a costly contract via trade.”

In 2012, Nick Perry was No. 12 pick in the first round. He's spent the entirety of his seven-year career with the Packers, but unfortunately, this has been his worst season on record thanks to his injuries and his inability to take to the field as a result of those injuries.
