The Green Bay Packers have ushered in some significant changes this offseason. Regardless, it appears there are still some high expectations going into the 2019 NFL season.

According to Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, the Packers will win Super Bowl LIV thanks to the improvements they made on defense:

Normally the two main reasons are Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. While they are both a big part of my rationale for doing so this year, the reason I am not only picking the Packers to get to the Super Bowl but also win it isn't Rodgers.

It's the defense.

There is no denying that the Packers have made some notable upgrades to their defense this offseason. They put an emphasis on shoring up their pass rush on the edge with the lucrative additions of Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith in free agency.

Meanwhile, the investment that Green Bay has made in their secondary also started to pay off with the emergence of cornerback Jaire Alexander and the pairing of Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage over the top.

The recipe for success with most championship teams is largely hinged on an elite quarterback and formidable defense. There is no question that quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the first part down. It remains to be seen whether or not their defense can take that next step in the 2019 campaign.

Despite all their talent, the Packers still have plenty of work to do. The prospect of a team winning the Super Bowl with an entirely new coaching staff is a bit far-fetched.

Regardless, it is clear that expectations have not been tempered in Green Bay.
