Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said on Monday the team is absolutely not going to trade Aaron Rodgers.

The star quarterback prompted some speculation about his future with the Packers during his postgame interview following the NFC Championship Game. However, Murphy said during a radio appearance on WNFL Rodgers' place in Green Bay is all but set in stone:

“There's no way in heck Aaron is not gonna be on the Packers,” Murphy said, via Nick Shook of NFL.com. “He's going to be the MVP of the league, might have had his best year ever, he's our unquestioned leader, and we're not idiots.”

Rodgers himself attempted to clarify his initial comments Tuesday on the “Pat McAfee Show.” He said he expects to be in Green Bay next season, though he also noted anything can happen in the business of professional football.

But if A-Rod expects to be back and Murphy is all but declaring him back, it would seem that about settles things.

There would be numerous complications in dealing Rodgers, anyway, especially when considering his dead-cap hits in each of the next two seasons. It is more likely the Packers, if anything, restructure Rodgers' deal to try and create more immediate flexibility in an effort to improve the roster and get over the hump next season.

Just how Green Bay goes about bettering the roster remains to be seen. The Packers could probably stand for an upgrade at cornerback given Kevin King's woeful performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and generally disappointing career thus far. But the team also faces a big decision on running back Aaron Jones.

Regardless, it does not appear Rodgers is going anywhere anytime soon.
