The Green Bay Packers desperately needed to select a wide receiver in the 2022 NFL Draft after losing both Davante Adams and the Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Thankfully, they pulled the trigger on Day 2. The Packers selected North Dakota standout, Christian Watson, with the 34th overall pick, giving Aaron Rodgers another weapon out wide.
Immediately after hearing his name called, Watson had the perfect reaction to getting to play with No. 12.
Christian Watson says he's sure his dad, Tim, a 1993 sixth-round pick of the Packers, still has some gear lying around.
Now he's a Packer 29 years later.
"To be able to catch passes from one of the best to ever do it is something I'm definitely excited about."

Watson revealed that he had a good feeling the Packers would select him after his visit with the organization also went well. Via Ryan Wood:
Christian Watson says he had "a really great visit with the #Packers" and left Green Bay feeling like they were "very interested" in drafting him. He likes the fit in the offense. "When I got the call, shoot, it was crazy. I couldn't be happier."

Looks like both sides are pleased. It's no secret the Packers are going to have a tough time replacing Adams and Valdes-Scantling, but drafting Watson is a step in the right direction. Green Bay GM Brian Gutekunst traded his No. 53 and 59 picks to the Minnesota Vikings in order to nab the No. 34 pick for an immediate need.
Watson was the seventh receiver picked in the NFL Draft and of course, the Packers have a history of selecting WRs in the second and third rounds, including Adams and Randall Cobb. Rodgers should definitely be pleased with the selection.
Let's hope Christian Watson can make a big impact in his rookie season at Lambeau.
