Long-time Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Mathews is gone. After recording a Defensive Player of the Year award, a Super Bowl win, 83.5 sacks, an All-Pro nod, and six Pro-Bowl appearances, Mathews joined the Los Angeles Rams in free agency. According to the linebacker, Packers quarterback didn't get too emotional after he left.

Mathews joined Dan Patrick on the “Dan Patrick Show” to talk about the 2019 season, and answer some questions about his departure. Patrick asked him if Rodgers called him after he left, Mathews answered, saying;

Oh he sent me a text. Yeah I was a little disappointed, because when Jordy [Nelson] got let go he wrote an emotional farewell on Instagram. When Randall [Cobb], they let him walk in free agency, he wrote an emotional farewell. But with me I just got a text… I've got a bone to pick with him.

He also talked about the Packers' brass and how they handled telling him that they were not going to re-sign him after ten seasons with the team.

It was obviously pretty difficult. — They called and let me know that it just wasn't in the card moving forward, and wished me the best of luck moving forward. And, we wrapped up a ten year career in about a 30 second phone call.

Despite a lack of an Instagram post from Rodgers, Mathews doesn't hold a particularly strong animosity against Rodgers, in fact, he sees their bond living forever.

I think our relationship that was forged with those Statefarm commercials is stronger than any bond with Jordy [Nelson] or Randall [Cobb] on the field. — Those commercials will live forever.
