Green Bay Packers rookie safety Darnell Savage was injured on the final play of his team's win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and left the stadium in a walking boot, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

Savage was kicked in the shin. The good news is the injury is not believed to be serious, and he will undergo further testing on Monday just to make sure everything checks out.

The 22-year-old logged six tackles and a forced fumble in the victory.

Savage, who played his collegiate football at the University of Maryland, was selected by the Packers in the first round (21st pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in April.

He spent four years at Maryland, arriving in 2015. After finishing with just 12 tackles in a limited freshman season, Savage broke out during his sophomore campaign, registering 59 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack and an interception.

The Seaford, De. native followed that up by totaling 59 tackles, three picks, a fumble recovery, eight passes defended and a defensive touchdown during his junior year, and in his senior season, he recorded 52 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and a defensive score.

Savage was a part of Green Bay's defensive makeover throughout the offseason, and all of the additions have paid off thus far.

The Packers have allowed just 19 points over their first two games, a welcome change for a team that has not been known for its defense for quite some time.

Green Bay will look to get off to a 3-0 start next week when it hosts the Denver Broncos.
