Ranked as the 6th best player across all of the NFL, owning four consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, and as arguably the best receiver that Aaron Rodgers has ever had, we all know that Davante Adams is critical to the Green Bay Packers success as a team. As he enters the final season of a four-year, $58 million deal he signed back in 2017, however, question marks surrounding his future, albeit overshadowed by that of Rodgers' future, have been circulating all offseason.

The possibility of his departure grew even more into question on Wednesday, as he opened up about the possibility of signing an extension before Sunday's season opener against the New Orleans Saints:

This doesn't really come as surprise to Packers fans, as both Adams and Rodgers posted (not so?) cryptic photos from the ESPN documentary ā€œThe Last Danceā€ earlier in the offseason, perhaps hinting that this would be each of their final seasons in Titletown. If events were to unfold in this manner, the Packers could be in for a sudden, long rebuild.

As stated earlier, Davante Adams has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, including an All-Pro first team selection this past season in 2020. He has averaged no less than 60 yards per game in every season since 2016, and has been a monster in the red zone as well, having scored double digit touchdowns in four of the last five seasons.

Receivers like Adams are rare ā€“ his blend of strength, quickness, and intelligence have made him more than capable of producing above even the likes of the NFL's most athletic receivers. Just like Green Bay receivers past ā€“ Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, James Jones ā€“ he has fit the mold of an Aaron Rodgers wide receiver, which is that football IQ and route running ability are to priorities.

For the sake of all Packers fans (myself included), Green Bay management better get to negotiations with Davante Adams
