The Green Bay Packers made headlines with their decision to move up and take quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. While there has been plenty of speculation regarding what he decision means for the future, this has seemingly left the team in an unusual position from a locker room standpoint.

Left tackle David Bakhtiari admitted during a Zoom call with the media on Tuesday that Green Bay picking Love has left him with a feeling of indifference because draft picks are out of his control. Via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:

“I mean, I’m indifferent … I think my goal throughout my career is always to not let my emotions get the best of me in the business setting. Yeah, I know we do play a game, but it’s a business at the end of the day. I was more shocked that they traded up, but how I feel about the pick doesn’t really matter because I’m not in charge of building of the roster. Whatever my point is, my job is to protect the quarterback and open up holes in the run game and do my job and make sure I’m out there on Sundays. I try to do that to the best of my ability and control what I can control.”

Bakhtiari's comments hardly come as any surprise considering he has been among quarterback Aaron Rodgers' most staunch supporters ever since the Packers made the choice to trade up and take Love to be his successor. After all, he emerged as one of the most dependable offensive lineman in the league while protecting Rodgers' blind side throughout his career.

Regardless, Bakhtiari seems to understand full well about the new dynamic that the Packers are attempting to usher in. Although the 36-year-old Rodgers still feels as though he has plenty left in the tank, the team decided to secure its long-term future under center just like they did with him back in 2005.

It is safe to say that Bakhtiari's view is one that is shared by other Packers players after Green Bay selected Love. There is no question that the relationship between Rodgers and his replacement will continue to be a storyline surrounding the team until it ultimately comes to a head.
