Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are hoping to get back to contention in the 2019 NFL season. After missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, the franchise went into the offseason looking to make some moves in order to get back to the top in the NFC.

Perhaps the biggest key to getting back into contention will be the play of Rodgers. He injured his knee in Week 1 last season and never looked like himself all year long. Green Bay will only go as far as their franchise quarterback takes them and they need him to get back to playing at an MVP level.

ESPN went ahead and put out their projections for Rodgers in the 2019 NFL season. They see him putting up slightly bigger numbers, but throwing more interceptions as well.

They have Rodgers throwing for 4,388 yards, 31 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2019. Last year with the Packers, Rodgers ended up throwing for 4,442 yards, 25 touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Needless to say, Rodgers would not be pleased with putting up the projected numbers that ESPN has him at. He will want to put together a big season that gets him into the MVP conversation. Those numbers would not get that done for him.

Green Bay added a lot of pieces to their defense in free agency. They went out and signed safety Adrian Amos and pass rushers Preston and Za'Darius Smith. Brian Gutekunst also reached a deal with offensive lineman Billy Turner.

Only time will tell what Rodgers is capable of doing in 2019, but the Packers should expect an improved season. Playing on a serious knee injury is never a good or easy task and Rodgers is back to 100 percent health heading into this season.
