The Green Bay Packers saw former EDGE rusher Za'Darius Smith join their NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings in free agency on Tuesday, in a move fans won't be all too happy about. The Packers were quick to respond to the Vikings' addition of Smith, however, fortifying their own defensive line with a free-agency pickup on Tuesday. According to Tom Pelissero, the Packers have signed former Chiefs and Seahawks DT Jarran Reed.

Reed visited the Packers on Tuesday and everything appears to have gone very well, considering he inked a contract with the team not long after. The details of his deal have yet to be revealed, but it's certainly noteworthy to see the Packers making a move so shortly after the Vikings poached Smith.
Smith had initially intended to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, but a last-minute change of heart saw the EDGE rusher hit the open market once again, at which point the Vikings came calling.
As for Reed, the 29-year-old started all 17 games for the Kansas City Chiefs last season, recording 43 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 12 QB hits. Prior to his stint with the Chiefs, Reed had served in the trenches for the Seahawks for four seasons, after getting drafted by the franchise in the second round in 2016, 49th overall. Reed attended Eastern Mississippi Community College, where the popular Netflix show Last Chance U was filmed, and also played ball at Alabama, featuring in 28 games across two seasons for the Crimson Tide under legendary head coach Nick Saban.
