The Green Bay Packers have gotten off to a hot start to the season and have a 5-1 record through six weeks. It has been a huge start to a new era of football under head coach Matt LaFleur, but the Packers aren't even at full strength just yet. One name that hasn't played this season is rookie tight end Jace Sternberger, who the Packers are extremely high on.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the Packers have designated Sternberger for a return from IR this season. He will be one of two players who are eligible to come off of injured reserve.

The Packers have designated rookie tight end Jace Sternberger to return off injured reserve. Green Bay will have one other short-term injured reserve designation to use this season.

Good news keeps coming out of Green Bay. Sternberger may not become a huge part of the offense this season, but he is yet another weapon that Aaron Rodgers and LaFleur will be able to utilize.

Green Bay is extremely deep at the tight end position. Outside of Sternberger, the Packers also have Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, and Robert Tonyan. All three of those guys have had roles this season and Rodgers has found ways to get all of them involved.

Sternberger will provide the Packers with size and speed at tight end when he returns. He is also going to be a big piece of the future for the Green Bay offense.

Expect to see the rookie tight end on the field at some point this season following this bit of news.
