The Green Bay Packers are looking to make a move for a pass rusher this offseason. That move could be happening soon via trade for Dee Ford.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers and San Francisco 49ers have shown interest in the Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker.

The Chiefs placed their franchise tag on Ford recently but they have shown signs of being open to moving him soon. This is due to the Chiefs moving to a 4-3 scheme under Steve Spagnuolo.

The majority of the big name pass rushers received the franchise tag. This includes the likes of Ford, Demarcus Lawrence, Frank Clark, and Jadeveon Clowney.

The Packers were likely to be looking to add one of them in free agency. Although, they could be interested in bringing one of them in—like Ford—through a trade.

This offseason, Green Bay is expected to part ways with Clay Matthews. That leaves a hole at one of their outside linebacker spots.

Adding a player like Ford could drastically improve the defense. Since starting for the Chiefs in 2016, Ford has added up 25 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, and nine forced fumbles.

That includes him missing 11 games due to a back injury. Playing alongside Justin Houston has caused many people to overlook just how good Ford really is.

A lot of people will point out he made a mental mistake in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots by jumping offsides. Although that penalty was crucial, there were other plays that ultimately decided the game. Let's not let one play take away from how good he played in 2018.

If the Packers land Ford this offseason, Matt LaFleur's coaching career will begin with a bright start.
