The Green Bay Packers have been without star defensive back Jaire Alexander for most of the season after he suffered a shoulder injury in Week 4. Alexander and the Packers opted against surgery, which kept the possibility open for the Pro Bowl cornerback to return during the regular season. Well, the Packers' last chance to activate Alexander from IR came on Wednesday, and the team made their official decision on the 24-year-old's return. Per Ari Meirov, the Packers activated Alexander from IR on Wednesday, getting him back on the roster before the deadline to do so expired.

Alexander's return will be a huge boost for the Packers' defense, whether or not he's able to suit up for their Week 17 clash with the Vikings. In his four games before suffering a shoulder injury, Alexander had recorded 13 tackles, three pass defenses, and one interception.

The former first-round pick has been a mainstay in Green Bay's secondary since he was drafted in 2018 out of Louisville. Alexander has featured in 48 games for the Packers, starting 46. He's logged 188 career tackles, 44 pass defenses, five interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 1.5 sacks during his tenure with the Packers.

The Packers' secondary recorded four interceptions against Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns last week, and with Alexander due to be back in the mix soon, their defense will be even scarier heading into the playoffs. The Packers close out the season with divisional matchups against the Vikings and Lions. The team already has a playoff berth wrapped up, but they may look to get Alexander back on the field soon as to get him some reps before their playoff run.
