With Jamaal Williams sidelined with a concussion, the Green Bay Packers are promoting fellow running back Tra Carson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington.

The Packers signed Carson to the practice squad in 2018. In late October, the former Texas A&M Aggie was promoted to the 53-man. Though he didn't play an offensive snap, he played in 45 special teams ones. The back played in four games before the Packers moved him to the injured reserve with a rib injury.

Carson was a regular for the Packers in the preseason, recording 81 yards and a touchdown on 29 attempts.

Before finding himself in the land of the cheese, Carson bounced between the active roster, practice squad and injured reserve with the Cincinnati Bengals. In his four years in College Station, the Texas native amassed 2,329 yards and 20 touchdowns on 473 attempts and 42 receptions for 305 yards a touchdown.

Carson isn't likely to see an abundance of offensive snaps on Sunday. Aaron Jones — who has tallied 195 yards and four scores on 59 attempts — should see an uptick in snaps if the game remains close. Rookie and former Notre Dame man Dexter Williams may also see an increased role. He has yet to make his NFL debut.

The Packers offense may rely more on the run than ever on Sunday, as Aaron Rodgers' No. 1 option, Davante Adams, is out with a foot injury. Both the Packers and the Cowboys sit at 3-1 heading into the game; both on top of their respective NFC divisions.
