The Green Bay Packers have taken a big step in fixing one of their weakest areas from the 2021 season. The team has hired former Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia as their next special teams coordinator.

Via Ian Rapoport:

Bisaccia did a fine job with the Raiders after the Jon Gruden debacle, leading them to the playoffs and serving as a very well-liked figure within the organization. The Packers will undoubtedly be happy to hire Bisaccia, who is respected all over the league.

Green Bay finished dead last in opponent punt return average and seventh-last in opponent kick return average. They struggled to kick field goals at a consistent rate and barely kicked any touchbacks. Their special teams certainly came back to haunt them in the playoffs as well as the San Francisco 49ers eliminated the Packers.

Before taking over the HC job in Vegas, Bisaccia served as the special teams coordinator. He had been linked to possibly getting a chance at leading the Jaguars, but they've hired Doug Pederson instead. The Packers should be delighted with this hire of Bisaccia, who brings a boatload of experience to the table. He's also been an assistant coach and special teams guy for the Chargers, Cowboys, and Buccaneers.
