Green Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams hurt his ankle during his team’s demolition job of the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday. Looking back at what happened, Williams blamed Steelers linebacker Vince Williams for his injury, saying that the latter used a dirty and completely unnecessary tactic on him, per Ryan Woods of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Asked in the locker room Sunday, Jamaal Williams said he thought the tackle was “most definitely” a dirty play and said it was “very unnecessary” to twist his ankle.

“He could’ve stopped and let go of my leg a long time before,” Williams said.

Fortunately for Jamaal Williams, the injury is not anything serious. If it was, he would not have been able to stay on the field for another snap and make a block after getting entangled with Vince Williams. The second-year player finished the Pittsburgh game with just two rushing yards on two carries, though, the Packers were able to pound the Steelers in 51-34 win even without his services for most of the game.

Williams is expected to be back in game action — more good news for the Packers, whose backfield is currently banged up, with Aaron Jones and Devante Mays both nursing hamstring injuries. Jones is also suspended for the first two weeks of the regular season for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse.

Selected by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Williams rushed for 556 yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries in his rookie year in the pros.
