The Green Bay Packers have been without one of their offensive playmakers during training camp. For the fourth-straight practice, running back Jamaal Williams has been inactive due to a lingering hamstring injury, as reported on by The Athletic‘s Matt Schneidman, via Twitter.

Fellow running back Aaron Jones joined Williams with a hamstring issue himself. However, it's not as severe as Williams'. ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported that Williams' hamstring injury is more severe than Jones' and his timetable to return is not yet clear.

Williams has been a popular selection for the chopping block in the offseason, as Jones solidifies himself as a potential long-term starter. Though, that may be a bit premature. Williams has value as a third-down back, as he's an excellent pass protector and productive as a receiver. In 2018, he caught 27 balls for 210 yards; the year before, 25 for 262 and two scores. He also rushed for 464 yards and three touchdowns on an average of 3.8 per carry.

But, Williams' hamstring isn't doing him any favors, because the Packers didn't ignore the position in the offseason. The team brought in former Notre Dame back Dexter Williams in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and are expected to hand the keys of the rushing attack to Jones.

With the two sidelined, Dexter Williams got a run at the first-team offense on Wednesday over Tra Carson, Corey Grant, and Darrin Hill.

Though, as mentioned, cutting Williams is premature, he's missing precious time to solidify himself as the Packers' No. 2 back to Jones. If Dexter Williams impresses, he may have lost it.
