The Green Bay Packers had the NFL’s best offense last season, and a big reason for that was quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who ended up bagging his third MVP award.

Aside from Rodgers, the Packers’ rushing attack led by running backs Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, and AJ Dillon also played an important role in the team’s top-ranked offense. While the two running backs have become close friends during their time with Green Bay, the announcement of Jones’ return to the Packers on a four-year, $48 million deal likely means the end of Williams’ time with the team.

Williams himself acknowledged this in a recent interview, according to SB Nation’s Jason Hirschhorn.

In the same interview, the 25-year-old acknowledged that he has received interest from a lot of teams who wish to sign him, but is yet to reveal which team he’ll be joining. A fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Packers, he played 14 games last season, finishing with 119 carries for 505 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns and adding 31 receptions for 236 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Williams served as a primary backup for Jones, a fifth-round pick in the same draft, and in the process became close to him. Even if his time with Green Bay could be coming to an end, Williams remains happy for his friend.

“I know good things happen to good people,” he said in an interview, per Zach Kruse of USA Today. “My bro Aaron is just a good person. He does great things. He deserves everything that came his way and getting signed. Just proud of him as a brother.”

With Williams’ departure from the Packers inevitable, Dillon is expected to be Jones’ backup and get more touches as his role expands in head coach Matt LeFleur’s offense.
