It's will they or won't they when it comes to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers this offseason. But while head coach Matt LaFleur can't exactly control the trade speculation off the field, he'll make do with the influence he has on it.

The Packers coach revealed his stern message to sophomore QB Jordan Love amid all the swirling rumors around Mr. Rodgers:

“It’s the same message it’s been all the time, is you’re only one play away, so you always have to prepare like you’re the starter,” Matt LaFleur told reporters, via ProFootballTalk. “And just to be very intentional about the work that you put in. To go out there with a purpose. To be mindful and in the moment.”

There's nothing controversial about what the Packers coach said to his current backup quarterback. But the fact that his message comes with at least a tinge of truth, in that Love could conceivably start in Week 1, makes it a little bit more intriguing than your run-of-the-mill take from a head coach.

When previously asked about the possibility of being named the Green Bay Packers' starting QB in Week 1, Jordan Love was beyond confident that he was ready for the big league promotion.

“One-hundred percent,” QB Jordan Love said when asked if he would be ready to start. “Obviously, this is a time where I’m getting a lot of extremely valuable reps that I might not have been getting in a normal circumstance. I’m going to take it day-by-day, but yeah, that’s what I’m here for. I was drafted here to play quarterback so I will definitely be ready Week 1.”

Although there is still no indication of how things all shake out once the season rolls around, Love isn't sitting around just waiting for Aaron Rodgers to come back.
