Jordy Nelson will sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Nelson told WIBW's Melissa Brunner (via Packers Wire's Zach Kruse) on June 3 he expects to sign the contract during Packers training camp in August.

Yes, we're heading back up there in August sometime, we haven't pinpointed the date yet, but again we wanted to get our family to Kansas and allow the kids to make it up there.

So that is the plan to go up there during training camp, sign the one-day deal, retire as a Green Bay Packer, and move on from there.

Jordy Nelson announced his retirement in March after an 11-year NFL career. He spent 10 of those seasons in Green Bay. He played for the Oakland Raiders in the 2018 NFL season.

Nelson told “The Dan Patrick Show” (via Packers News' J.R. Radcliffe) in April he was open to the idea of suiting up for the Packers again only if quarterback Aaron Rodgers asked.

Back then, Jordy Nelson already discussed his plans of signing a one-day deal with Green Bay.

I have talked to (Packers president/CEO) Mark Murphy, and he's opened up the door to come back and do the one-day deal, so we're still working on a time to get that done, and that way I can sign a contract and retire as a Packer and end where we started.
