Green Bay Packers guard Lane Taylor is coming off a shaky season. Taylor took over the starting left guard job in 2016, and played well the previous two seasons. But last year he was up and down, and didn't play up to his standards.

Taylor missed all of the team's offseason activities last year due to ankle surgery that sidelined him until training camp. Speaking recently at the team's minicamp, Taylor said that having a full offseason under his belt will help him a lot in 2019.

“My health is good, man,” Taylor said, per Mike Spofford of the team's official site. “I was just getting out of a boot last year, so definitely much different. It’s good I’m out here in OTAs, not on the sideline banged up. I’m feeling healthy, feeling good.”

Taylor would go on to explain how beneficial the extra time will be, especially with new coach Matt LaFleur coming in.

“It was a lot of reps that I missed. This year, it’s a lot of reps I got, especially with the new system. I was really glad I didn’t miss this one. I’ve just been polishing my technique so I’m not starting this process in July or August.”

Taylor acknowledged that his play slipped at times, saying, “I personally don’t feel like I played as good as I should have or could have, really.”
Taylor still received decent grades from Pro Football Focus, but the team clearly wasn't too satisfied with his play as they added some competition at guard.
Still though, Taylor is still very confident in his abilities.
“I played good football in the past, so it’s not like I need to step outside myself to play well. Just perfect my craft. But it will give me a bit of a chip on my shoulder, because I don’t want to play bad. I want to go out there and do what I can do,” he said.
