The Green Bay Packers, and specifically Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers, have a big season ahead of them. LaFleur is in his first season as a head coach and is stepping into one of the league's most storied franchises with a lot on his plate. Rodgers is coming off a down year and needs to prove to everyone he's still one of the top couple of passers in the NFL.

Rodgers' relationship with old coach Mike McCarthy got stale, which eventually led to McCarthy's firing. The Packers hired LaFleur to bring some new energy and to push Rodgers, and so far things appear to be working.

Reports out of OTAs and minicamp indicated LaFleur was taking a very hands-on approach, and coaching up Rodgers a lot. Rodgers has been receptive and seems to be picking up the new system quickly.

Speaking to Mike Silver of NFL.com recently, LaFleur revealed one area the two still need a lot of work on.

“Aaron and I have had some good talks, and we're going to have to talk a lot more — and one thing we have to work through is the audible thing,” LaFleur said. “We're running a system I first picked up while working with Kyle (Shanahan) in Houston a decade ago, and we've never really had a quarterback who's had complete freedom to change plays at the line, because that's not really the way the offense is set up. But, I mean, this is Aaron Rodgers. He's had a lot of freedom to make those calls, and deservedly so. Now, how do we reconcile that, and get to a place where we put him in the best position to succeed?”

LaFleur indicated he'll be tweaking his system a bit to give Rodgers more latitude, and that's a good sign. He's not being too stubborn and stuck in his ways like some coaches are, and it seems like LaFleur and Rodgers genuinely like each other. This has got to be music to the ears of Packers fans after what they've seen the last couple of years.
