The Green Bay Packers were able to secure the nailbiter versus the Detroit Lions thanks to a couple of phantom calls on defensive end Trey Flowers. However, it seems head coach Matt LaFleur is still trying to figure out how they managed to pull off the comeback in the fourth quarter.

The Packers took full advantage of the boost toward the end to put kicker Mason Crosby in position for the easy 23-yard game-winning field goal. Even LaFleur was admittedly shocked that Green Bay came out on top, via the Detroit Free Press.

“I don't know how the hell we pulled that off.”

It is safe to say that the answer is an easy one. The officiating crew has come under fire their controversial calls against Detroit down the stretch and deservedly so. LaFleur's comments only seem to further add salt to the wound.

Not only did the penalties help secure the victory for the Packers, but it was the number of no-calls that would have gone in the Lions' favor that have added fuel to the fire. This includes the clear pass interference on wide receiver Marvin Jones by safety Will Redmond earlier in the fourth quarter.

The abysmal performance by the referees could not have come at a more ideal time with NFL owners set to meet this week. They will surely need to address the recent backlash regarding their performance thus far in the 2019 NFL season. It will be interesting to see if they can come up with a conclusion that will appease those that have been directly affected.

Whether or not LaFleur acknowledges the blunders, all he can do now is take solace in the fact that his team is 5-1 and leading the NFC North Division.
