The Green Bay Packers recorded their second loss in three games on Sunday, this one coming off a bye week to the NFC's top team the San Francisco 49ers. The beatdown defeat was a poor showing from the offense, which looked inept against possibly the NFL's best defensive team this season.

First-year head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that the 29-point margin of defeat was “embarrassing” for the team.

Per Packers writer Wes Hodkiewicz on Twitter:

“Anytime you get embarrassed like that, you find out what you’re made of. You find out a lot about people in times of adversity. This'll be a good test for our team. … There’s a lot of work to be done and we have to use every moment until we play NYG to get it done”

Slotted as the primetime night game on Sunday night in Week 12, the Packers' matchup with the Niners was supposed to be a big test for the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds in the conference, but Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked five times and fumbled once en route to a 104 passing yards game. Third-year running back Jamaal Williams led the team in rushing, only totaling 45 yards on 11 carries.

On the other side of the ball, the Packers couldn't stop Jimmy Garoppolo, who threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 completions. San Francisco's run game, minus Matt Breida, was also potent, with journeyman 27-year-old rusher Raheem Mostert tallying 45 yards on the ground on just six carries.

LaFleur and the Packers will want to forget this game immediately with the New York Giants on tap next week. However, Green Bay might have to play the Niners in the not-so-distant future in the postseason.
