Mason Crosby had quite possibly the roughest game of his football career this week for the Green Bay Packers. In a tough road game against the Detroit Lions, Crosby missed four of his five field goal attempts and also missed an extra point. Making three of the missed field goals would have won the game for the Packers.

There were some rumblings that the Packers could consider signing a new kicker following Crosby's performance. Despite those rumblings, Crosby's job with the Packers appears to be safe.

According to head coach Mike McCarthy in an interview with ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers still have plenty of faith in Crosby even with the poor performance he had in Week 5.

“He’s got to make those kicks. He’s a proven highly successful kicker, and I believe in him but he’s got to make those kicks.”

Green Bay has seen Crosby make many big kicks in the past. He has never had huge consistency issues throughout his career, although there were some issues for him back in 2012 when he made just 63.6 percent of his kicks.

Late in the game, the Packers made it clear that they still trusted Crosby. They were able to get him in field position for one last kick and he nailed it from 41 yards.

In addition to letting him kick the last points of the game, Aaron Rodgers was seen consoling Crosby. He was one of the most supportive members of the Packers. Having the franchise quarterback on your side certainly does help when it comes to keeping a player's job.

Expect to see Crosby rebound from his nightmare game against the Lions with a much better outing against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football next week.
