Per NFL.com's Ian Rappaport, the Green Bay Packers will likely retain their defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. New head coach Matt LeFleur had said that Pettine would still tentatively allow Pettine to keep the position unless he chooses otherwise.

After starting last season very poorly, former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy was canned. He was already heading into a second straight year with a losing record, and it seemed that the lack of elite performance from his quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the last straw for management.

They decided to bring in LeFleur who was the Tennesse Titans offensive coordinator. It had been rumored that he might finally get a chance at a head coaching gig.

He's always been known as an offensive mastermind, and over the past few seasons, he proved that his continued success wasn't a fluke. He exponentially improved Marcus Mariota since his rookie campaign. His spread offense out of the shotgun will help Rodger's rely less on his mobility and more on his offensive weapons.

The Packers are full of offensive difference makers, including wide receiver Davante Adams, tight end Jimmy Graham and running back Aaron Jones. With a new offensive coordinator, Rodgers will have the opportunity to extend his career and be a part of a system he can thrive in. Rodgers would often audible out of McCarthy's play calls this past season, which really put too much pressure on him to succeed.

Whether or not LeFleur will bring in a new defensive coordinator, he will be providing a fresh culture reset the team desperately needed.
