The Green Bay Packers are dealing with a bit of the injury bug this offseason. Veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb is reportedly experiencing issues his right ankle that placed him in a dreaded walking boot.

This had initially drawn some concern that he may not be ready to give it a go by the season opener.

However, there doesn't appear to be any doubt that this ailment will keep him off the field for Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, according to NFL.com.

Cobb is dealing with an ankle injury that could lead to him being eased into drills during training camp, but he's expected to be fine for the start of the season, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Packers are expected to lean more heavily upon Cobb in the passing game following the departure of Jordy Nelson this offseason.

The 27-year-old has been a primary fixture in the offense through much of his career with Green Bay. His production has taken a notable dip over the last three years after a breakout 2014 season as he has notched fewer than 70 catches and 660 receiving yards in each of the past two campaigns.

This had nearly put his status with the Packers in dangerous earlier this offseason to which the team decided to move on from Nelson instead. It has now put more pressure on Cobb given that he's in the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal that he will make $12.7 million for the 2018 season.

Green Bay is hoping that this slight change in his role could help him get back on track to produce at a high level could rival the career-best numbers with 91 receptions for 1,287 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Cobb will likely use these next few weeks prior to the start of training camp next month to get much-needed rest for his ailing right ankle.
