The Green Bay Packers' offseason purge of entrenched stalwarts continued on Wednesday when the Dallas Cowboys signed free agent wide receiver Randall Cobb to a one-year, $5 million deal.

Even after his first day meeting his new team, though, the eight-year veteran couldn't help but express gratitude for his old in an emotional farewell post to the Packers and their fans Instagram.

Cobb struggled last season while dealing with a hamstring injury that cost him five games and forced him to play through pain in two others. He had 38 catches for 383 yards and two touchdowns, failing to record a rushing attempt for the first time in his career. After sending Green Bay to a thrilling come-from-behind victory with a 75-yard game-winning touchdown catch against the Chicago Bears in Week 1, Cobb didn't record a single game the rest of the season with more than 43 yards receiving.

“I’m excited to get back out there and prove myself,” Cobb said, per the Cowboys' website. “It definitely was a tough year for me last year. But that’s all in the past now, and I’m ready for a fresh start. I’m excited to be here, to get rolling, and get to work, and bring a championship back to Dallas.”

The Packers will be a much different team next season than they've been in the recent past. Green Bay replaced longtime coach Mike McCarthy with former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur in January, and let four-time Pro Bowler Clay Matthews, who had also played his entire career in green and gold, sign with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week.
