The Green Bay Packers are making sure that most of their newly selected players are ready to go by the time their rookie mini-camp kicks off this weekend, as the team has announced that Rashan Gary has signed his rookie contract.

After being the first team to sign a rookie to his deal earlier this week when they signed safety Darnell Savage to his deal, the Packers recently got their other first-round pick, linebacker Rashan Gary, to agree to his deal as well (via Pro Football Talk). The team announced the two, as well as four other picks, have all signed their contracts with the team.

Selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Michigan product was one of the highest recruited high school players prior to joining the Wolverines.

Once on Michigan, however, Gary saw his production dip, as he posted just 9.5 sacks throughout his career. Despite the lack of numbers, Gary was still named first-team All-Big 10 twice, and his performance at the NFL Combine was enough to convince teams that he was worth the first-round pick.

During the combine workouts, Gary posted a 4.58 40-yard dash, 38-inch vertical leap, and performed 26 bench press reps despite an injury to his shoulder.

With the Packers rookie mini-camp taking place today through the weekend, it’ll be the first time that they get to see just how Gary operates in a professional setting. While Gary might not have had a productive career at Michigan, he is a versatile player who can line up at multiple positions, something that the Packers clearly want in their players.
