Green Bay spent a lot of money this offseason to revamp its defense. However, it is a player the team signed last year that may be getting too much money.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox compiled a list of every team's most overpaid player, and veteran corner/safety Tramon Williams made the cut for the Packers.

From Knox:

“The Green Bay Packers brought back cornerback Tramon Williams last offseason after the two sides spent three years apart. They gave him a two-year, $10 million deal to make it happen.”

“Familiarity was part of Williams' appeal for Green Bay, and he is a fine defensive back. However, Williams is also 36 years old and has seen his ability to impact games diminish over the past few years. Though he started all 16 games in 2018, Williams had a career-low two passes defended and failed to snag an interception for the first time in his career (Williams did not play as a rookie in 2006).”

Williams originally joined the Packers in 2007 and was on the roster for eight seasons. During that time, Williams recorded 114 passes defended and 28 interceptions. His best season came in 2010 as he posted 20 passes defended and six interceptions. He reached the Pro Bowl and helped the Packers win the Super Bowl that year.

Now, though, Williams carries a cap hit of $6.4 million this year, one of the 10 highest on the team. It does seem like a lot for Williams, especially with the Packers having young cornerbacks Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, and Josh Jackson on the roster.

However, King has struggled with injuries and Jones may get traded, so Williams does have a good amount of value to this roster.
