Christmas came early for Green Bay Packers linebacker Za'Darius Smith who said all he wanted for Christmas was an NFC North clinching cap and t-shirt.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Smith told teammate Preston Smith of his wishlist before the game started, which included the two items.

Smith was a big reason the Packers were able to clinch the NFC North on Monday Night Football over the Minnesota Vikings. He racked up 3.5 sacks and was putting pressure on Kirk Cousins all night. The defense seems to be getting hot again at the right time which is a scary thought for the rest of the NFL.

“They were unbelievable. Unbelievable,” 10th-year right tackle Bryan Bulaga said via the Packers team website. “Having a defense do that in this place against that team, I don’t think I’ve seen it. I don’t think you guys have seen it in a long time. They did it. They played their (butts) off.”

After giving up ten points in the first half the Packers defense really stepped up in the second half allowing zero points and frustrating many of the Vikings.

“We came in here at halftime and told those guys to continue doing what y’all doing,” cornerback Tramon Williams said. “Defensively, we can win this game and that’s what happened. (The offense) obviously didn’t turn the ball over in the second half but they were able to march downfield and get touchdowns, and we were able to win the game.”

With a win against the Detroit Lions in Week 17 the Packers will have the second seed at worst. If they can win and the Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers, they will lock up home field throughout the playoffs. Maybe that's what Smith will want for a New Year's gift.
