Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is widely expected to become the highest-paid player in NFL history when he signs his next contract. But it's still unknown how much he’ll be making and when he will sign his new deal.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network gave his educated guesses to both questions recently. According to general managers he’s talked to, Rodgers’ deal will likely be in the $32-33 million per year range–significantly higher than the record-setting $30 million per year extension Matt Ryan recently got from the Atlanta Falcons.

As for when, Rapoport believes a deal is likely to get done this summer before training camp. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said recently that he's confident the two side will come to an agreement “soon.”

Rapoport notes that Ryan’s contract was the only thing that Rodgers was waiting for. Now that it’s done, it should be a matter of time before Rodgers finalizes his new deal and overtakes Ryan as the league’s highest-paid player.

Rodgers will have earned that title given his remarkably high level of play for virtually his entire career. The 34-year-old and two-time MVP remains arguably the best quarterback in the league when healthy.

Rodgers will be looking to bounce back following an injury-shortened season in 2017 due to a broken collarbone. He threw for 1,675 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions in seven games last season.

The loss of favorite target Jordy Nelson this offseason did not please Rodgers. But he will have a dynamic new weapon in tight end Jimmy Graham, who joins Davante Adams and Randall Cobb as Rodgers’ main receiving options for next season.
