Aaron Rodgers made headlines following Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when he seemingly casted doubt on his future with the Green Bay Packers. While everyone deciphers what he meant with his comments, Rodgers reportedly wants a new contract from the Packers, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Rodgers still has three years remaining on his current contract with the Packers, keeping him under contract until he's 40 years old. The All-Pro quarterback is set to make $22.35 million in 2021, $25.5 million in 2022, and $25.5 million in 2023.

To put that into perspective, Rodgers is making the same amount of money as Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams. Even though Goff's contract is less-than-ideal for the Rams, it shows that Rodgers deserves to earn more money from the Packers.

With that in mind, Rodgers carries a total of $105.6 million in cap hits over the next three seasons. And if Green Bay chooses to move on from him, they would incur a dead-cap penalty of $31.5 million in 2021, $17.2 million in 2022, or a reasonable $2 million in 2023.

But if the Packers scrap his current contract and manufacture a new one, it would help them in multiple areas. First and foremost, it would show Rodgers that the organization values him. Also, it would lower his cap hit totals, allowing them to surround him with more talent in the latter part of his career.

Following Sunday's heartbreaking loss, it's apparent that Aaron Rodgers is upset with how the season ended for the Packers. And while his future with the team is surrounded by uncertainty, a new contract for Rodgers would solve a lot of Green Bay's problems.
