It sounds like Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Green Bay Packers for the 2021 NFL season, with the expectation that it will be his last campaign with the franchise. Rodgers was reportedly planning on no-showing Packers training camp, but the two sides got together over the weekend to smooth things over for the time being.

There has been plenty of reporting and speculation out there about what exactly Rodgers has been hoping to get by causing a stink this offseason. It seems getting the ability to leave Green Bay after this upcoming season is one big plus for Rodgers, but there's other stuff floating around out there about what he's hoping to get.

One such rumor comes from Trey Wingo, who claimed Monday bringing back wide receiver Randall Cobb is a desire of Rodgers:

Who knows just how true this rumor is at this point. Cobb played the first eight seasons of his NFL career with Rodgers on the Packers, going to a Pro Bowl in the 2014 season thanks to a career-high 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. However, the 30-year-old Cobb hasn't hit the 1,000-yard mark since that season and had a disappointing 2020 season with the Houston Texans, catching 38 passes for 441 yards and three scores in 10 games. Cobb spent the 2019 season with the Dallas Cowboys and caught 55 passes for 828 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games.

Rodgers may have a good relationship with Cobb, but it's hard to see how bringing the veteran wide receiver back would actually swing his decision to play for the Packers in 2021. Yes, there was all that reporting out there about how mad Rodgers was mad about Jake Kumerow getting cut, so maybe this really was a sticking point that the quarterback couldn't let go. He could also just want him back without it not affecting his final decision.

We'll see if the Packers actually bring back Randall Cobb. The Texans did just trade for Anthony Miller, so maybe they're now more willing to deal Cobb back to Green Bay.
