The Green Bay Packers have some major issues to address on the defensive side of the ball. Although there are some fantastic pieces already on the roster, there needs to be more cohesiveness in all aspects of the defense.

The Packers drafted two great young cornerbacks last season in Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, who offer a world of promise. If they want to establish an elite status in the secondary heading into next season, they should make a call to Miami regarding their top defensive player.

The Dolphins have a fantastic cornerback in Xavien Howard and he will likely be a top trade target for teams in need of a presence on defense like the one Howard has shown for multiple seasons now. The Packers are a team that should absolutely make a play for him, according to Brian Jones of 247 Sports.

“…the Packers have an extra first-round pick. They have the Saints pick at number 30, and I say they send that to Miami, and then they pair Xavien Howard with Jaire Alexander, and now you've rebuilt Green Bay's secondary.”

Howard is coming off a great season with the Dolphins in only his third year. Howard was named to the Pro Bowl, a second team All-Pro, and tied Kyle Fuller and Damontae Kazee for the league lead in interceptions with seven.

The Dolphins should accept nothing less than a first round pick from any team inquiring about Howard. He is in final year of his rookie contract, so it's likely he's going to get a massive payday.

Green Bay could pursue a trade for him this offseason and try to lock him up long-term.
