The Los Angeles Rams have a new quarterback in Matthew Stafford, but it seems that they were trying their best to acquire Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers.

Per Sam Farmer of LA Time, the Rams allegedly made a run for Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers left his future with the organization up in the air after the NFC title game, so it's no surprise the Rams tried to get one of the best quarterbacks in the league. However, the Packers apparently have no interest in trading him–much to the dismay of LA fans and much to the excitement of Green Bay supporters.

Jared Goff was sent to the Detroit Lions with a load of draft picks in the Rams' trade for Matthew Stafford. Now, the 32-year-old signal-caller is going to be playing home games at SoFi Stadium.

For what it's worth, Goff wasn't too happy with how everything transpired between the Rams and Lions. In fact, he stated he's glad to be “somewhere where I know wants me and appreciates me.”

Stafford spent his entire career in Detroit and had to deal with numerous head coaches and a ton of losing seasons, so he is probably very excited to go to a playoff team.

For Goff, he was just a starter in the Super Bowl a few years back, and now inherits a Lions team with a new head coach, new offensive coordinator and a team that finished just 5-11 in 2020.

For the Rams, Stafford sure seems like an upgrade. However, it surely doesn't hurt to at least kick the tires on the likely MVP of the league in Rodgers, which would have been a scary sight in Los Angeles.
