After much speculation about his future, the New York Jets finally fired head coach Todd Bowles shortly after their season-ending 38-3 defeat to the New England Patriots. However, Bowles may not be out of a job for very long.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Bowles will likely get head coaching interviews, with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and Green Bay Packers in particular.

Mehta also believes Bowles will be in demand as a defensive coordinator. He pinpoints the Kansas City Chiefs as a potential team to watch for Bowles’ services.

The Jets went a disappointing 4-12 this season under Bowles and were 24-39 overall in his four years in charge.

The Packers have already begun their head coaching search by interviewing veterans Jim Caldwell and Chuck Pagano. They are also expected to target Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald.

Even if Bowles does get an interview, it remains to be seen whether he will be one of the Packers’ top choices for the job given his spotty track record as a head coach. He’s also more of a defensive-minded coach, which might not be the type of coach the Packers would bring in to fix an offense which looked subpar this season.

Green Bay will be looking to bounce back after consecutive seasons missing the playoffs and there might be doubts about Bowles’ ability to get them back on track.

But it’s still relatively early in the Packers’ head coaching search, and they may want to just take a look at every possible option before coming up with their final decision.
