Tramon Williams has been playing cornerback this season for the Green Bay Packers after returning to the team in free agency in the offseason. Green Bay's defense has taken a step forward from last season, but they still have some work to do with a lot of young talent. Now, it appears that Williams will be switching positions.

Following the trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins, the Packers could use some help at safety. According to a report from Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Williams will be playing safety moving forward to help replace Clinton-Dix.

Williams told reporters he will play safety Sunday against the Patriots but also could see some action at corner.

Williams switching to safety will put more pressure on young cornerbacks Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, and Josh Jackson. It could also mean that veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland will finally see playing time.

Josh Jones, a second-year safety, is also expected to see a spike in playing time following the trade.

Mike Pettine's defense is coming off of a solid performance against the Los Angeles Rams last week. Even though they gave up 29 points and the team lost 29-27, the Packers have to feel good about their defense. Going up against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots this week won't be an easy task, but losing Clinton-Dix won't hurt as much as many may think.

It will be interesting to see how Williams plays this Sunday night. Switching positions in the middle of the season isn't an easy task, but he has been around the league for a while and knows the Packers' defense.

Expect to see the Green Bay defense handle this change well and put together a solid all-around game against Brady in Week 9.
