Bashaud Breeland and the Green Bay Packers came into their Week 14 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons looking to prove a point. After the firing of Mike McCarthy, the Packers wanted to prove that they were not going to go down without a fight this season and they have been able to do just that.

Heading into halftime with a 20-7 lead over the Falcons, the Packers are showing that they are still capable of beating good football teams.

Coming into this week's game, the Packers' defense had not scored a touchdown all season long. That changed quickly as Breeland cut in front of a Matt Ryan to Austin Hooper pass, intercepted the football, and returned it for a touchdown.

Take a look at the play for yourself:

Breeland has become one of the best defensive threats for the Packers since being signed earlier this season. He was a coveted free agent in the offseason, but injuries forced teams to pass on him. Green Bay was more than happy to bring him in to help fix their secondary issues.

Counting his first half against the Falcons today, Breeland has racked up 14 tackles, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and three defended passes.

At 26 years old, Breeland is in his prime and is giving the Packers reason to consider bringing him back in the offseason. He will have the opportunity to test free agency, but Green Bay keeping him on the roster along with Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson, and Kevin King might be an ideal scenario.

All of that being said, the Packers seem to be back and Joe Philbin has done an excellent job in his first game as their interim head coach.
