The NFL's 100th season kicked off on Thursday night with a storied rivalry game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. The defenses dominated from the opening kickoff to the final whistle, and it was a defensive play that ultimately decided the game.

In his Green Bay debut, Packers safety Adrian Amos sealed the game with an interception of Mitchell Trubisky.

Adrian Amos played the first four years of his career with the Bears, but signed with Chicago's longtime rival in free agency.

Needless to say, this was the perfect way to get back at his former team, as he dealt them a loss to a divisional opponent. The victory also gives the Packers some much-needed momentum heading for the rest of the regular season. The opening stretch of the schedule is brutal, as Green Bay faces off against the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys all in the next.

As for the Bears, the most concerning part of the game was the offense. Head coach Matt Nagy is regarded as an offensive guru, but his team cold only muster three points against Green Bay's rebuilt defense. The running game couldn't get going, and Mitchell Trubisky was horribly inaccurate all night. In short, the Chicago offense was an eyesore. The schedule softens up significantly, but it's still a real issue that needs to be addressed for the Bears to live up to hopes of contention in the NFC.

The Green Bay offense wasn't much better. After one drive engineered by a deep ball from Aaron Rodgers, the Packers were silent. Luckily for them, the defense was incredible. New signees Preston and Za'Darius Smith applied pressure all night, and rookie Darnell Savage was everywhere.

If the Packers defense continues at this level, they'll be playoff bound.
