The San Diego Padres received some bad news on superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr, who will miss about three months with a wrist injury. Tatis, who fractured his wrist during the offseason, was unable to be tended to by the Padres' team officials, who were forbidden from having contact with players during the MLB lockout. Some interesting details emerged on the cause of the injury when the Padres star told reporters that he had sustained a fall while riding his motorcycle during the offseason. Tatis was asked about the motorcycle accident and offered a very concerning answer, as reported by Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

Fernando Tatis Jr was asked when his motorcycle accident occurred, and the Padres star responded by saying “which one?” That is certainly not an encouraging answer, as that would mean that Tatis had suffered multiple falls this offseason.

Aside from not being entirely honest about the whole situation, it also shows a recklessness from Tatis, who is the best player on the Padres- and one of the best in baseball. The star shortstop agreed to a 13-year, $340 million contract with the franchise last offseason.

In 2021, Tatis clubbed 42 homers with 99 runs scored, 97 RBI and 25 stolen bases this past season. The 23-year-old is immensely skilled but will have to make better decisions moving forward.

It seems likely that Fernando Tatis Jr won't be riding any motorcycles anytime soon.
