Earlier this week, the Carolina Panthers bolstered their running game by signing former Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson to a one-year deal. It has brought aboard another proven player in the backfield that could have a significant impact on the running game next season.

Regarding his decision to join the Panthers, it came down to what he believes will be a good fit for his playing style of being a huge factor in the rushing attack, according to Herbie Teope of NFL.com.

“I just think it fits my game personally well,” Anderson said Wednesday afternoon during a guest spot on NFL Up To The Minute. “They love to run the ball. That's something they do more of.”

The 27-year-old is coming off the most productive campaign of his career where he produced 1,000 rushing yard for the time in his first five seasons in the league. His high level of dependability should lend well to him quickly becoming a crucial fixture in the running game next season alongside second-year running back Christian McCaffrey.

Anderson could also form a highly formidable duo with McCaffrey as the two bring different elements to the game due to their varying playing styles. The former Stanford product has shown to be a tremendous asset in the passing game after setting franchise rookie records in scrimmage yards (1,086) and receptions (80) last year. The 21-year-old was also an impact player in the running game recording 435 yards in a secondary role to Jonathan Stewart in the 2018 campaign.

This could lead to Anderson showcasing that he can be a valuable asset in the running game that could earn him a lucrative long-term contract next offseason either with the Panthers or another team looking to add proven talent in the backfield. This is a prime opportunity for him to showcase his ability that he can be one of the more dependable running backs in the league.
