The Carolina Panthers made it clear this offseason that they are hoping to re-tool the offense around quarterback Cam Newton. That said, fortifying his offensive line seems like a good place to start.

One player who could be poised for a big payday is right tackle Daryl Williams. According to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, general manager Marty Hurney is expected to get a new deal done before the 2018 NFL season:

Like right guard Trai Turner last summer, Williams is viewed as a priority. I'd be mildly surprised if general manager Marty Hurney doesn't get a deal done by the start of the season

After a solid start to his career, Turner signed a lucrative four-year, $45 million contract with more than $20 million guaranteed. That said, Williams could be in line for an even richer deal considering he plays the right tackle position. Needless to say, he would certainly be deserving of one.

Carolina selected Williams in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft after a stellar college career at Oklahoma. Despite being touted as a bit of a raw prospect after playing just 20 games in college, he has proved that he is more than NFL-ready.

Williams played an integral role in the Panthers' offense during the 2017 campaign. As a result, he enjoyed a bit of a breakout season after starting in all 16 games and earning second-team All-Pro honors. Williams is now entering the final year of his rookie deal and is expected to make just $1.2 million in base salary for the 2018 NFL season.
