The second installment of the Cam Newton era with the Carolina Panthers has gotten off to a roller-coaster start.

Newton had promising performances in his first two games with Carolina this season, as he combined for five total touchdowns to go along with a notable 125.3 passer rating.

The one-time NFL MVP winner seemed as if he was going to have another standout showing for Carolina in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins, as he led the team to a touchdown drive over the early stages of the first quarter.

However, the script flipped rather quickly for Newton.

The veteran quarterback threw a pair of costly interceptions in the second quarter, and after two sluggish drives over the third quarter of the contest, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule opted to bench him in favor of backup quarterback P.J. Walker.

Newton finished with a lowly statline of 92 passing yards, two interceptions thrown and a 5.8 passer rating against the Dolphins.

It sure was a performance to forget for Newton. More so, the Panthers are on the verge of a double-digit blowout road loss to Miami.

Fortunately for the Panthers, their bye week is coming up in Week 13. A home clash against their NFC South rival in the Atlanta Falcons will then await them in Week 14.
