The Carolina Panthers chose to hire Matt Rhule as their next head coach and now their sights are set on adding an executive. According to Adam Schefter, Carolina is seeking to interview Philadelphia Eagles' Vice President Andrew Berry, first reporting for the general manager job and later correcting himself that it's for executive vice president.

When the Panthers hired Rhule, Marty Hurney was the team's general manager. Despite him remaining as the general manager for the time being, it's expected that he will be replaced by someone else in 2020.

The decision to add a new executive seems to be coming from owner David Tepper. After purchasing the team in 2018, Tepper is attempting to get his own guys in the building moving forward.

Near the end of the regular season, Tepper decided it was best to move on from Ron Rivera as head coach. Since his firing, Rivera has already landed a job with the Washington Redskins as their head coach.

As for Berry, he joined Philadelphia's front office as the team's VP of Football Operations. Prior to joining the Eagles, he spent three seasons as the VP of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns.

Now, it appears that Berry is beginning to receive interest from teams as executive vice president. Besides the Panthers, the Browns have also requested permission to interview Berry for their vacant GM job.

Some teams choose to wait to announce a new front-office roles until after the draft. Therefore, a decision could be put off until the end of April. With that in mind, Berry appears to be headed toward a promotion in 2020, whether it be with the Panthers or elsewhere.
