Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey returned to practice this week, but it doesn't look like he's going to play against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. McCaffrey has officially been ruled as doubtful because of the hamstring injury suffered a couple of weeks ago on Thursday Night Football.

The Panthers are playing it safe with their star running back. They are 3-1, after all, so they're not in a desperation situation to rush him back to the field. It makes sense to have him sit out at least one more game before bringing him back if he's not fully 100% yet.

Of course, that's no solace to fantasy football players who have McCaffrey on their rosters. They want McCaffrey to be back on the field to rack up those sweet, sweet fantasy points, but it seems that's not to be this weekend.

With McCaffrey likely to sit out this weekend, rookie Chuba Hubbard is poised to get the bulk of the carries again. Hubbard had 13 carries for 57 yards plus two catches for 14 yards in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Royce Freeman is another backup, but he only had three carries for 12 yards. Quarterback Sam Darnold had six rushes for 35 yards and two touchdowns as he continues to surprisingly light it up as a rusher.
