Earlier in the week, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was revealed as the highest rated quarterback for EA Sports' “Madden 21.” The defending Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP came in at a nearly perfect 99. With EA Sports then releasing its list of top-rated running backs on Tuesday afternoon, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey managed to join Mahomes as the veteran offensive weapon was also hit with a 99 overall rating.

Of course, McCaffrey of the Panthers is now the highest rated running back featured in “Madden 21.”

While it hardly comes as a surprise that McCaffrey was tabbed with such a high rating, he is actually the only member of the Panthers to receive a rating over 90. Following McCaffrey, Panthers pass rusher Kawann Short was dealt a rating of 87 with wide receivers D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson receiving ratings of 85 and 84, respectively. With ratings in the low 80s, Panthers cornerback Donte Jackson, center Matt Paradis, wide receiver Curtis Samuel and offensive tackle Taylor Moton were the only other Carolina players to attain ratings of at least 80 for “Madden 21.”

On the field, though, the Panthers may have a tough time competing with the rest of the NFC South in 2020-21. Despite the presence of McCaffrey, the Panthers will still need to contend with the trio of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, all of which improved in major ways throughout this offseason. However, a player like McCaffrey does give the Panthers a chance to win each and every week.
