Christian McCaffrey became a richer man earlier this week, inking a four-year, $64 million extension with the Carolina Panthers. Shortly after finalizing the deal, McCaffrey opened up on Carolina's ‘fresh start' heading into next season.

“The contract is officially signed, sealed and delivered,” McCaffrey said, via his Instagram account. “I couldn’t be more excited. So fortunate. This is an unbelievable time for me and my family and all my loved ones. Man, I don’t know where to start saying thank you. First off just to the whole Panthers organization for believing in me and allowing me to continue my career in the place where it started. Thank you to Mr. [David] Tepper for believing in me. Thank you to [General Manager] Marty Hurney for believing in me, coach [Matt] Rhule for believing in me. I couldn’t be more excited. We have a great thing going, a fresh start, and I’m more than excited. To all the Panthers fans out there, I hope you’re excited as I am. We’re going to go out there and win some games and give you everything we’ve got, so keep pounding and let’s go.”

McCaffrey is coming off of the best season of his career, gaining 2,392 yards from scrimmage and scoring 19 touchdowns. While McCaffrey is returning to the backfield, he'll have some new faces around him.

For starters, the Panthers now have Matt Rhule at head coach and Teddy Bridgewater as their quarterback. Additionally, Carolina added Robby Anderson to the offense to give them another receiver in the aerial attack.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, McCaffrey has caught 303 passes from the likes of Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, and Will Grier. Now, the former first-round pick is excited to get to work with his new teammates and coaches in 2020.
