The Carolina Panthers imploded against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Nothing was working as the defense struggled, Cam Newton looked horrific, and Christian McCaffrey left the game early due to an ankle injury. Anything that could have gone wrong came to fruition in one game. However, it seems the franchise has received an update on McCaffrey's injury status.

According to Ian Rapoport, Christian McCaffrey left the game and appeared in a walking boot. However, Rapoport claims, “this doesn't seem though like a major injury.” It sounds as though McCaffrey suffered a minor ankle injury and could be back for the Panthers' next game.

Luckily for Carolina, the Panthers have a bye in Week 13. The bye week comes just at the right time, as the week of rest will give this team the time necessary to get healthy and get on the same page. If a rolled ankle is all McCaffrey suffered from on Sunday, two weeks is plenty of time for him to recover.

The bye week also helps out Cam Newton and the rest of the offense. Newton doesn't have a full grasp of the playbook yet and this extra week will allow him to get up to speed. With five games left on the Panthers' schedule, Carolina is in line to be making a playoff push before the regular season ends.

We'll see how it plays out. It sounds like the Panthers will be healthy and ultra prepared once they make their return in Week 14. They'll be taking on their division rival the Atlanta Falcons, in what should be a spectacular NFC South showdown. For now, Carolina fans can sit back and relax as their team receives a week of much-needed rest.
