Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd has an interesting comparison when it comes to the issues surrounding Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers suffered their sixth straight loss on Monday night in a 12-9 defeat to the New Orleans Saints, which is quite the development after the team started 6-2 on the season.

Of course, this disappointing slide has many people commenting on the overall makeup of the franchise.

Naturally, one of those people is Cowherd, who thinks that Newton's situation with the Panthers reminds him of a similar situation in the NBA.

Here's what Cowherd had to say about Newton:

“Carolina has become the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NFL. They have an iconic superstar in a small market who's hard to coach, doesn't play well with others, he's completely flawed… and they're trapped.”

It's no surprise to see Cowherd making these kinds of comparisons, but the bigger issue for the Panthers is trying to get Newton's shoulder back to 100 percent.

It's been obvious that the recent shoulder issues have limited what the star quarterback has been able to do on the field, and that has been one of the reasons why Carolina has been unable to stop the losing streak.

And now, with unknowns as to whether Newton will play the rest of the way, it doesn't exactly give confidence that the losses will stop.

Next up for the Panthers is a showdown with the Atlanta Falcons before heading to New Orleans for the rematch against the Saints.
